I’m just refleting a bit about the fourth of July. We are a country made up of immigrants and that kind of fits in with my search for Jose Mier around the world.
If you recall, my search led me to the origin of the Jose Mier name–Spain–and some of the people I’ve profiled in these pages have been immigrants to the United States. The Jose Mier from Kern county in the 1800s was just such an immigrant. I can only imagine he left Spain to find a better life in America. That he did, as is evident in the old book I unearthed as a result of my searches.
